Usable size is the space below the self-seal flap (the red line in each drawing), the room your item actually has. "No #" means the size has no standard bag number.

How to choose the right size

1MeasureWidth, length and thickness of the item, in inches.
2Add the thicknessAdd it to both the width and the length. The mailer wraps around the item, so a 1-inch-thick item needs about 1 inch more each way.
3Pick the next size upCompare with the usable size and choose the first size that's at least that big. A snug fit protects better and ships lighter.
Example: a book that is 6" x 9" and 1" thick needs about 7" x 10" of usable space, so a #1 (7.25" x 11" usable) is the right pick.

Bubble mailer numbers explained

Bubble mailers are sold by bag number: #000 is the smallest (4" x 8") and the numbers go up with size, through #7 (14.25" x 20") and the large #8, #9 and #10. The numbers are an industry convention, so check the actual inches before you order; sizes can vary slightly between brands.

Poly or kraft?

Poly bubble mailers are water-resistant and tear-resistant, and come in many colors. Kraft bubble mailers have a paper outside and use the same bag numbers, #000 to #7; see each kraft page for its exact size. For items that don't need padding, like clothing, flat poly mailers are lighter and cost less per mailer.
